About Steve Jobs´ 2005 Stanford Commencement Address (REVIEWED VERSION)

I find Jobs´ speech very interesting and motivating since the personal stories he retells are intended to encourage people to follow their dreams in order to become what they really want to be. I completely agree with the fact that life might hit us on the head at times but that if we love what we do and we have a goal to pursue we will find the courage to overcome difficult situations. I particularly like the way in which he explains that our heart and intuition somehow know what we truly want to become. And for that reason we should listen to that inner voice we all have. Sometimes, we feel a sudden impulse to do something, such as enrolling in a certain course or whatever, without really knowing exactly what for, but the real reason which was hidden at the moment might become clearer in the future. And in order to explain that, Jobs talks about connecting the dots looking backwards. In my personal opinion that is quite true since I can observe how some people around me take the plunge to enrol in activities which end up being of much importance in their professional training. To conclude, I believe that this speech is quite encouraging and it makes us reflect upon the fact that our time in this life is short so we should be enjoying it, not wasting our time doing things that are not of our interest. To cut a long story short, if we value our time, we will make better decisions on how to spend it.
